The Torque Report
GM's all-new police patrol vehicle, the 2011 Chevy Caprice PPV has started to be delivered to law enforcement officers all over the U.S. Georgia and Iowa are among the first to receive the Caprice patrol vehicle.

Forsyth County, Ga. Sheriff Ted Paxton stated, "With its emphasis on the ergonomically designed seats for officer comfort, and enhanced safety features, the Caprice is a vehicle that is made for police work. We've had our vehicles for a month, and we're sold. This will be a worthwhile investment."

After the Caprice's first month on patrol, Paxton's office decided to replace its fleet of 175 other patrol vehicles with Caprice PPVs.

Dennis Hogan, Fleet Services manager in Cedar Rapids, Iowa stated, "We view the police vehicle as an extended office for our officers. We chose the Caprice, because it delivers optimal officer operational space, trunk and storage space, and generally provides our officers the most-suitable operating environment."

The Chevy Caprice PPC is powered by a 6.0L V8 with 355 horsepower and 384 lb-ft. of torque.

Does anyone else think that the back seats look a little too nice for a police cruiser? The bitch should be able to get up and go, that's for sure.

I would assume with an American V8 that default is RWD...but they could have an AWD version.

6.0L V8 with 355 horsepower and 384 lb-ft. of torque.
Is it just me or does this output seem a bit low for a 6.0 V8?

With Ford's 5.0 getting 412 hp and 390 ft-lbs it seems down right paltry.
The Pontiac G8 6.0 made 361 hp and 385 ft-lbs 3 years ago and the GTO's 6.0 made 400 hp and 400 ft-lbs 6 years ago!
Heck, Nissan gets 332 hp out of 65% of that displacement and 2 less cylinders.

i wouldn't be surprised if they seriously detuned it for 24/7-style reliability.

Not to mention, officers not getting themselves in trouble by getting too much boost at 12mph

This... and they are probably under rating it.
