Signatures: "I'm a dick" or useful way to identify people?

Let us compare:
--
Alex J. Avriette
Principal Bitpusher
Jasper, Waterman, and Goldberg
"Wars are won or lost in the shell." - Eric Scott Raymond
thanks,
aa
Now, I generally hand-type the latter, and sometimes it's Alex, or aa, or alex, or whatever, and sometimes it's "best" or "cheers" or "thanks in advance" or whatever is most appropriate. But SO MANY PEOPLE are into the signatures I am actually considering ensignaturing Outlook for work. What is the general verdict here? (and obviously that's a fake quote, and I've got a great quote that's apropos and from the marine corps, etc, etc).

Not a fan. I put my contact info and sign it with:
"thanks,
-D"

I'm a big fan of short and sweet. Name, what you do (and this is VERY on the line for me... most of the time I don't put it), contact info. Ifg you put CISSP in your sig, I'm going to knock you down two points.
Examples:
Julian Zottl
Group, Project
Office: (703) 123-4567
julian.zottl@project.com
or:
Julian Zottl
Company - Group
Onsite Office: 703-123-4567
julian.zottl@company.com
Noticing a trend in my sig's?

Yeah people get out of had with signatures. Including their name, title, office, branch, company, division, desk number, cell number, fax number, blackberry messenger ID, email , skype, yahooID, facebook address, cute quote, marital status, blood type, and favorite Bond villain.
Yes, there are people who include their email address in their email. There's no need to have all of that in every message you send. I keep mine short. To the effect of:
--
v/r
Mr. Charles E. Robinson III

Well, the reason I ask is I don't use a signature at all (on work email) because it seems so pretentious to list your title. My phone number is in the GAL, and do people really need to know what
group I'm in? That's in the GAL too. And then there are the people (sorry, Chuckles) that
always sign v/r or thanks or whatever. That seems disingenuous. If I send an email suchly:
Hey Nguyen, the postgres instance was down on foo-dmz01 and I bounced it.
Thanks,
Alex
That seems kind of stupid. Obviously I'm not being thankful or respectful or anything and
always including it in your email guarantees that
at least some of the time you don't mean it. Right?

And if you put "Security+" or "CompTIA+" in your signature, I'll just delete your email.

We have to put name, title, and phone number in our sigs.
I've seen some people put their
email address in the signature.

It's COMPLETELY disingenuous. That's why I don't type out the whole thing nor is the "v/r" even capitalized. The only reasons I even bother with it are 1) First and foremost, so whoever I'm talking knows how to refer to me. "Charles", "Mr. Robinson", or VERY rarely "Chuck" 2) as a means of introducing part 1.

Since we're all engineering types, I'll explain mine, haha.
Julian Zottl <== Name, duh.
Group, Project <== So people know where I'm from. This let's people know what tech area I'm in and sometimes who to contact if they need my services.
Onsite Office: (703) 123-4567 <== Added so that people don't have to look it up every time. Also, this is not listed in my company profile.
julian.zottl@project.com <== added so that if you are giving my contact info to someone, you can just C&P the entire block and be done. Also, sometimes this is not the same as my company e-mail address... hence the @project.com

I can't tell you the number of times I have been forwarded an e-mail trail from a sales guy or project manager to "get caught up on the topic and contact X and Y to get officially read in". Only to find out that there is not one piece of contact infromation in the whole damned thing for either of the POCs. Their names and addresses are in the addressbook of the person who sent it, so I only see the deconstructed name, no phone number, no title, no company...
For that reason alone, when I send something new outside the company I'm all like;
Name
What I do
Company
Desk Line
e-mail address
After that or if I am replying, just
Desk Line
e-mail address
If it goes internal, I put nothing on it. I have been here 11 years. I dare you to find a contact roster that doesn't have my e-mail or number in it.
We have posted office maps and room assignments. If someone can't find my phone, then they can walk down the isle and face to face me.

Personal sigs I keep short
Be well,
Aaron
Work I think its neccessary to be a bit longer
Name
Company
Occupation: Facilities Coordinator "Fire equals GET the fuck out when I say so." "Wahhhh I have to send out this e-mail" "Don't think I won't bitch slap you with this extinguisher getch'your ass down the stair well. "But I have a meeting." <spray disobedient co-worker in the face with extinguisher> "Meet his ass outside."
W:
Email:
This is off topic but I really hate when you're looking out for people's welfare and they start conversations with you about the severity of the fire "What are we lookin at Aaron on a scale of 1-10 10 being the worst. Level with me cause <corporate chuckle> if it's a four or a five I gotta tell ya I think we'll be okay the fire department will put it out just as it reaches our floor which means us leaving is wasted time and I tee off at 1:00pm, six to ten I'd rather gamble with my life cause I can't fathom a fire being that serious. Nothing bad ever happens to me I keep your salaries low so I can keep my nose well supplied with blow and listen to the Styx greatest hits while I'm Sailingggg A-WAYYYYYY! on my yacht." <---This is obviously exaggerated but you get my meaning.
So work e-mail sigs yeah ummmmm I guess I'm for'em

working at fns is akin to shoving your nuts in a woodchipper; hurts like hell, very little reward.
then there's having to deal with the lucky charms guy as your boss's boss.
