it looks like the first "big" malware incident finally hit the android market.
Google has removed 21 apps from the Android Market that were confirmed as malware. The apps were designed to get root access to the user's device, collect data, and download additional code. These are very bad things the apps were doing. And they were downloaded by at least 50,000 users.

If you've downloaded one of the following apps recently, each from a company called Myournet, uninstall it!
linky one

linky two.

thankfully, the folks over at xda have whipped up a patch for the vulnerability.

nasty leak, yea?

That blows :( I'm sure Apple will take advantage of this too since they seem pretty stringent on what apps they allow in.

got word from a coworker that there was a nasty one out there that when talking on the phone, it would conference in a third party (without you knowing) and then (possibly) record the conversation. originated in China.

yep. but by looking at a search of the android market, you wouldn't know which one was legit at first glance.

Glad I don't download many apps. It looked like BS I'd never fall for until I got to "scientific calculator." Sneaky bastards.
