Julian i know you used this on the top part of the DP and i was wondering how you all like this stuff? I"m thinking of putting on my headers (stock ones) and the turbo heat sheild when i get it cut, and .... well you get the point. Not that I'm a huge heat fanatic but if cans are not too expensive then it might be worth it.

You can also port and polish your headers while they are off...all you need is a dremel, an extension and some sanding/smoothing bits.
There are a couple foresters who have done that w/ STi '05 exhaust manifolds(what you call headers)

Ohh, you're gonna love this then.
In addition to the Tuner Pro, I also have some spare exhaust manifolds (same manifolds for the 20 and 25, except the up pipe). I was thinking about PnPing them and selling them with a core charge. If you are interested in doing this stuff on your own time while still having the car to drive, I could just do the refundable core charge.
Oh Im a bad man, bustin' out scheemes on my friends.

Just a note we found that the exhaust manifolds on the '04 and '05 STi are slightly different. The '05 flows better being that the inside diameter is slightly larger.

Good to know. I only had experience with the '04 STi manifolds.
Thanks for the info.

Really? That's very interesting. What did you measure the ID with? Did you separate the manifold into all three pieces before making this conclusion, or did you just notice this from the exhaust ports?
Almost makes me reconsider installing teh Borla header I've got at my parent's garage. Hmmm....

Actually, I didn't physically measure it but someone else did and posted the results. I would prefer the Borla over the '05 OEM STi exhaust manifold b/c it has even better flow...or you could grab some nice equal lengths but then you will sound more like a porsche than a suby
I will try to find the exact thread and measurements to post for you.

Black Satin isn't that expensive compared to powder coating. My feeling on it is, while the parts are out, you might as well treat them to a nice coating of it. It can't do any harm!

^^Word!
Also, a brainy friend(who is pretty knowledgeable on suby parts sent me this:
"Will, IIRC the is a slight difference. The STi exhaust manifold is a bit larger particularly in the cross over section. The pipe that connects the left and right sides. 04 and 05 are the same for both the XT's and STi's. If you find out something different let me know, but I think have this right."
I am still trying to find the thread w/ the exact measurements.
