Definitely take a look at these articles if you get a chance. Funny how the guys talk about the data centers... I have been in much better data centers than the ones they are speaking of... and that scares me.

CBS - Robot Traders of the NYSE
In Steve Kroft's "60 Minutes" report on high-frequency trading, you heard how most stock trades in the U.S. are no longer made by humans, but by computers capable of buying and selling stocks at warp speed.

High-frequency trading played a supporting role in the mini market crash last spring that saw the Dow Jones industrial average plunge 600 points in 15 minutes, and yet most people know very little about this type of high-speed automated trading.

there's been a recent push for datacenters close in to NYC to support microseconds for latency (compared to the milliseconds we're used to). I believe Equinix had an article on the same site you posted (DCK), should anybody want to read up.

i really hope that future protocols will heed the need for speed that these transactions demand on a daily basis.


... it's already pretty gangster. just wait until all transaction-based sessions get this quick. w00tz!
