Coincidentally, the Q's keyboard began malfunctioning a few hours prior. I went from two phones to none in the course of a day.

edit/update: I had to force restart the phone. Before, the screen was black, and the power button did nothing. It's on now... I am skeptical!

Mine did the same thing shortly after the 3.0 update. Stupid iPhone.

That's it! I'm getting a Nokia.

Am I the only one who didn't have any problems so far? The whole process from pwnage to a dfu restore, to carrier ipcc update and everything went smooth as buttah.

All but three contacts were gone this morning. Luckily(?) the same thing happened to my roommate this weekend, so he knew the complicated process to correct it. Restore address book from Time Machine, save as archive, delete current address book, turn off iPhone/iPod, turn off Syncing with computer (and leave on Sync with MobileMe), apply newly-archived address book to computer, deletey newly re-doubled address book (how that happened again is beyond me), force a sync to MobileMe, turn on iPod/iPhone, force a Sync from Mobile.

Apple is officially no longer as polished as in years prior.

Wow, that's pretty awful. Good thing TM works as well as it does. I'm crazy paranoid about backups in general, PIM data specifically. Then again, I've seen syncs get messed up and erase data between just about every major mobile device manufacturer (WinMo and ActiveStink, Palm and Palm Desktop, Blackberry desktop manager, etc.) If nothing else, I'm awfully aware to keep a backup copy of everything that gets "synced."
