I'm kinda surprised no one's posted this yet (although a lot of it has already been leaked):
AutoBlog wrote:The New York Auto Show is the backdrop for the 2010 Subaru Legacy's unveiling, and we just checked it out on the display stand downstairs here at the Jacob Javits Center. The red car you see in the gallery below is a Legacy 2.5 GT equipped with the six-speed manual gearbox, while the dark gray car above is a PZEV-certified base model. The new Legacy is clearly a step up from the car it replaces. It's taller, longer and wider, which makes for more room inside than the old car, which in turn makes for a more compelling rival to the cavernous Accord. The interior's trimmed out with decent plastics, a thick-rimmed wheel, a relatively uncluttered center stack (as opposed to the Accord's loaded Scrabble board) and nice leather seats. The mere presence of that manual shifter makes it all the more welcoming. (Man, if only you could get this trim and setup in a wagon...)

Outside, the new Legacy's got a new, distinctive front end with big eyes and that familiar corporate grille. The 2.5 GT's hood scoop jazzes things up a little, too. In profile, the 2010 Legacy is inoffensive and will blend into the family-sedan crowd nicely. The rear end features large taillamps and, in the case of the 2.5GT, dual exhaust outlets. Open the trunk and you'll find a nice, large opening with thoughtfully-placed release handles for the rear seats (no need to drop them from inside the passenger compartment, which is a nice touch.) In all, the 2010 Subaru Legacy's restyling is far less controversial than the one underwent recently by the Impreza, though we're still going to miss the outgoing car's clean, handsome lines. That said, the new car is better-positioned to do battle in this hugely-competitive segment, and we expect that Subaru is eager to throw its hat in the ring against the Accord and Camry.

The 2.5GT looks a little better but ...

I just wish it wasn't going to "blend into the family-sedan crowd nicely" :(

Not a bad looking car. I'd actually like to go sit in one to check it out. Hopefully, the pictures are not doing it all it's justice.

Why does that red 2.5GT look so much better than the non-turbo grey one above. Guess a scoop, color and angle shot w/ correct lighting make a world of difference (yes, I like answering my own questions  ). Still wanted the car to be less mainstream and more edgy like the concept. I don't like that "bland Ford design" feeling I get from this new legacy.

i don't think the gt model looks any better than the base. if anything it looks worse for some reason. i'll have to reserve final judgment until seeing it in person.

IMHO it doesn't look worse but it doesn't look ANY better either. and it is no where near the look that Mercedes Benz calls a "4 door coup."

I say again: why is Subaru working so hard to make sure my next car isn't a Subaru?

most of the legacy guys hate it :rolllaugh:. some examples...
vomit bag please...

absolutely disgusting
The 2010 legacy ruins the name of the legacy! Biggest pile of shit Ive ever seen come from subaru. Went from sporty luxury car, the fat bitch half way through fat camp. Its just. so. ugly.
that fake plastic wood can give one a seizure...

I know what they were thinking: let's make a car that's like a love child of Honda Accord + Hyundai + Lexus from 20 years ago.

Also, let's make all the car panels look like they don't go together and make the car that will attract a different audience: i.e. Let's target this car towards drivers that have an average age of dead.

I predict they will sell 5 of these this year and then Toyota can sell the Subaru brand to India or just close shop.

Subaru pulling out of rally racing was the sign of things to come...
I hope this is all just an extended April Fools joke

The front end looks like the new Forester, the rear end looks like a Camry/Accord/Lexus/Hyundai, and the wheel arches look like the Incredible Hulk got stuck under there and bumped his head 18 times.

New and improved? My ass.

The last 09 LGT to roll off the production line was the last Legacy that had a good sense of styling.

It starts at just under $21,000.
Gearheads will likely be most interested in the 2.5GT model, which includes a turbocharged 265-horsepower mill backed by a six-speed manual. For your $28,690 (including dest.), you'll get 18-inch alloys, a hood scoop, and all the features of the 2.5i Premium model. There's a Limited model, too, which adds a leather interior, power passenger seat, and a Harman/Kardon audio system, but selecting that model will relieve you of a tidy $30,690 at your local dealer.
Would you like to know more?

less money for a less attractive car? seems fair.
