Re: Do we have an iPhone apps thread yet?
^^^Sweet. Will be testing that shortly.
Also, I've been getting back into running recently and sine they don't make Nike+ for the iPhone I found a reasonable alternative
-RunKeeper Free (App Store, Free) - Tracks time and distance ran via GPS. Maps route taken. Records everything to phone and uploads data to website for fitness tracking.
However, I'm NOT going to recommend this YET. Primarily, because the last run I went on, the GPS never kicked in so I ran for about a half hour and nothing was recorded. Once I figure out what went wrong I'll get back to you.

I remember Complacent once speaking of an app where you can tether the phone to a computer via ssh. Which app was that?

iPhoneModem Zsrelay. Should be on Cydia.
It's one of the few tethering programs that's anywhere close to secure. It's not as pretty as pdanet and such though.
That being said, I'll take the ssh session instead plz.

Do you have a link to ssh support for pdanet? I don't see anything on their site. I'd like to read more about it.chicken n waffles wrote:pdanet all the way. ssh ftw.
EDIT: Here's the most recent article I can find: iPhoneBlog linky
The part that concerns me is this:
Thoughts?Ok, another quick note: for those who are very security conscious, we should note that the network you’re going to set up will only be able to use WEP encryption for security. WEP encryption is kind of like a door made of paper: it will prevent the casual passerby from entering, but it won’t stop anybody with even a little bit of determination. If you’re concerned that a hacker could be within WiFi range or are otherwise security sensitive, PdaNet is probably not the tethering option for you.

I just got an iPod Touch. I use it so much that I cancelled unlimited data on Verizon's network (also because I'm poor...)
Anyway, Westward is a 3-dollar app that is Simcity-like in that you have settlers who live and work in your frontier settlements.
I just picked up a few games according the the recommendations in this thread. I'm going to jailbreak the thing eventually.

My thought is I'm going to be uninstalling PdaNet very shortly.complacent wrote: The part that concerns me is this:Thoughts?Ok, another quick note: for those who are very security conscious, we should note that the network you’re going to set up will only be able to use WEP encryption for security. Re: Do we have an iPhone apps thread yet?
Is anyone using any kind of voice note recording app?
I'm willing to concede that my short attention span could be bolstered by the ability to take short notes easily.
You know, something I could process later (read: once i've forgotten 15 seconds later)

Might try Evernote. Great note tool that also has voice capabilities. Feature set is too big to list here (thumb typing) but it's a hell of a feature set.

I'll give it a try over the next few days and report back any findings.

Re: Do we have an iPhone apps thread yet?
Relevant to thisthread I was looking for an RSS reader. Right now I'm using Free RSS Reader. It's name is it's description.
You add the RSS feed and start getting updates. If you don't the link to the feed itself just go to the site and the program will fine the feed on its own. Then you can view the feeds in portrait or landscape. It'll also show you any associated pictures.

Re: Do we have an iPhone apps thread yet?
Have you considered google reader? It makes a nice icon bookmark and seems to work pretty well. Furthermore, when you follow the "show original article" link, it automatically formats it for mobile reading. Kinda handy. I dig it and use it daily.

I tried that but it's a lot of tapping to get to the same information.

Re: Do we have an iPhone apps thread yet?
Add me to the chorus of cheers for the Kindle app. I hope they really integrate the app and the amazon store. There is huge potential here with this. w00t for kindle books being cheaper too. That's one thing that I couldn't grasp with Stanza....the books were the same price as going to the bookstore....why charge me for the materials used in making the book when all I want is the words??

We have to be using different Google Readers.
EDIT
Ars gets Hands on with the Kindle app.
