Same here. I want to find something easy to remember. Never would have thought it'd be this tricky picking a number.

Glad to see that people are having good times with teh google voice. have had the service since the grand central days but have only been using it in earnest since moving down here to va beach. No way in hell i'm giving up my 703 number (too many people have it and it's my last tie to home) but I use the 757 associated google voice number for the photography business. Makes people feel better calling a local number rather than a non-familiar area code and I can keep the voicemails and return calls separate too. Works well for what I need it for....haven't had landline phone service for years so I don't have multiple numbers linked to it or anything. But, it gives me an extra number when I need it.

Interested to see what other people figure out to do with it. I'm sure it's got some powerz that have yet to be discovered.

Anyhow I got my first voicemail with this thing and I like how it tries to transcribes everything to text. Also, when words aren't that clear the text fades out. Like I got a call from someone looking for a "When does technician".

Its not perfect, but at least you knew it was a voice mail you had to check vs one you could ignore. I hate checking voicemail, with a passion, the only time I leave them is when I'm driving and txting is dangerous, or someone isn't a txter. Anything that makes it easier to deal with voicemail makes me happy.

For those of us that can't have phones at our desks, this little bit of software means you can almost be a human being again.

while i agree that is a nice feature... is it that much more difficult than opening your gv webpage? my concern is that they'll all blend together in ye olde inbox and not necessarily get the attention they deserve. generally speaking, i'm quicker to respond to a txt than an email.

I agree with the above. If you start mixing everything together it'll all get jumbled together and you won't know what came from where. I'm perfectly fine with keeping my GV texts in the separate web app.

i'd really like email to sms...

And the work in Google Labs continues. It really looks like they're pushing hard to merge phone and mail into one app. Interesting...

I hope they do. If you've drank the koolaid and allowed Google access to all your data, it should be all integrated in a way that it is seamless, that a single search pulls data from anywhere and everywhere. I want to be able to move from responding to an email to listening to a voicemail to editing a spreadsheet to reading my RSS feeds easily. Chrome helps, Google OS is going to help more.
