Now finding the time to install... any side notes you guys can think of?

No problem. The install is pretty straight forward but can be a PITA sometimes. Make sure you have the TB hose, BPV w/ gasket, and BPV return hose. (Basically you can buy the Samco intercooler kit to get the 2 hoses and then sell the 3rd, Y-pipe, to someone on nasioc).

Also, I need to get you those breather pipes.

Oh, make sure you first attach the BPV hose to both ends but leave the BPV unattached to the TMIC, next attach the elbow hose (that is attached to the Y-Pipe on the TMIC) to the turbo, then attach the TB hose (that is attached to the TMIC) to the TB, next use new BPV gasket and attach BPV to TMIC. Make sure all NEW (yes you should buy all new worm drive clamps to replace the $#itty stock pressure clamps) clamps are tight. Bolt down TMIC to brackets and you are done. Also, you may need to bend the A/C lines slightly to get the TMIC to fit.

Alrighty... now that I have an STI scoop/splitter on the way I figured it would be a good time to install the aforementioned and purchased TMIC. Got mostly all the way through w/o bothering you guys but still have a question or two.

1)The TMIC mount on the passenger side doesnt come close to lining up to the bracket hole on the IC. Its almost a full 1/2 inch low/forward towards the front end.. I assume this should line up.

2)I had previously moved the a/c lines down one firewall mounting hole so I could install the front tower brace. I removed the brace to ease IC installation but now dont think I can reinstall it since the fit is pretty tight with the a/c lines & the IC. Suggestions?

1)You can get it to fit. I did when it was in my engine bay and it did the same thing it is doing for you. Just make sure all hoses are attached tightly then get the one bolt on the right side bracket but don't tighten all the way. Next, pull the topmount down/up to line up and get bolt in. When both bolts are in tighten all the way. Wallah!

2)I got rid of the A/C bracket when I did my first TMIC upgrade...haven't needed it since. I think I tiewrapped it or something...I will have to look again.

The throttle body hose seemed a little short but I'm planning on just loosening both creeper clamps and centering it a bit better...

Update...

Solved the aforementioned problems with bracket/bolt alingment and ac lines/tower brace but now it seems I have a leak somewhere. It appears that the lower red hose portion of the y pipe doesnt fully seat onto the turbo and the connection with the IC & throttle body seems a bit sketchy. I've ordered a longer throttlebody hose so that should solve the problem. But it seems I either should look into some kind of y pipe extension or just attempt a better join when I remove everything and reinstall

without seeing what is going on, I'd have to say from my limited experience with the Subaru TMIC that you'll probably have to remove things and try to reseat the Y pipe. other's who have done an STi TMIC swap might have better tips though.

Yeah, the TB hose should be fine, you just need a longer elbow hose to replace the stock STi red elbow hose on the Y-pipe. I will try to source you one.

Yeah, the TB hose should be fine, you just need a longer elbow hose to replace the stock STi red elbow hose on the Y-pipe. I will try to source you one. You're trying to attach it to a TD04, correct? Then it is definitely too short.

Ordered a longer 90 degree elbow which should be in the week with the TB hose. Do you think I should wait to reinstall till I get the hood scoop (which just arrived

Quick question... Picking up the sti scoop from paint tomorrow (thanks Lance) and installing ASAP with GT spec splitter. The new splitter has way different mounting locations for the seal, should I just fab a whole new one instead of using my smaller WRX one? If so, what would you guys suggest me using??

I got the JDM STi scoop specific GTSpec splitter. They also have just a regular small scoop one so make sure you got the right one. I bent the top up a bit so it will touch the scoop more and put on a small strip of square plastic channel grommet (well that is what I call it anyways) as a buffer along the edge that I bent up.

As far as the mount holes go. I had to redrill a few, especially the top middle one where that stupid plastic screw clip goes. Might want to also consider fabricating a good rubber skirt/seal that you can rivett (sp?) to the splitter that will make a better uninterrupted airflow between the splitter and the TMIC.

Any suggestions as to where I could pick up rubber/latex for the skirt seal? I was thinking I could use the hard rubber striping for the bottom of garage doors that comes in a big roll from Home Depot.

BTW, Lance finished the scoop but said it was made of some unknown material that wouldnt allow the paint to adhere properly so he said "no charge". I was surprised, impressed by his work ethic, and grateful for his time. Thanks for the referral.
