today is going to be crazy (well, actually it's already crazy...) so I'll have to do homework on this tonight.

no hotel room should be necessary. it's only about 1 hour long event, and a 2 hour drive each way.

Looking at it purely from a functional "going out there to do X, Y, and Z" standpoint that much is true. I was looking at it more from a 2 day long car centered party viewpoint.

My lazy ass missed the registration for the HPDE, but I did just pay for the HyperDrive.

I'm not camping, but don't let that stop anybody. I'll stop by the camp sight and drop off supplies if necessary.

I'll be camping with the crazy guys from the Corvette club and/or the 944 cup drivers so I'm sure there will be plenty of beer and good times.

Y'all get your hyperdrive participant instructions from hypoerdrive registrar? I didn't know there were 7 sessions. Should we try and make things complicated and stagger our participation so we can get video of members driving bye?

Here is what mine said.

Code: Select all

You are confirmed as a Hyperdrive Entrant for Hyperfest ’06 on July 8!

Thanks for registering to be a part of the 5th Annual Hyperfest at Summit Point! Please go here for general event info, directions, schedule and more:

http://www.hyper-fest.com/

GENERAL INFO: To take part in the hyperdrives, you must be 18 years of age with a valid state issued driver’s license.

GATE HOURS: You may arrive at 8AM on Saturday morning, and general admission gates open at 9:30AM on Saturday July 8. The gate fee is $20 per person.

PARKING: Follow the signs that say Spectator Parking or General Admission. Park here, and return your car here after your hyperdrive session.

ARRIVAL PROCEDURES: Once you have parked, please walk to the Information Booth and indicate to staff that you are a paid, registered Hyperdrive participant. Select the session you are interested in, and you will receive a voucher. There are 7 session times that day, and arrive early if you have a preference. Your voucher will state the time you need to be at your classroom session. At the end of the classroom time, you will receive an on track pass which you will allow you out on track. Many of you have signed up for more than one session, so you will receive vouchers for the number of sessions you have chosen.

We advise arriving early and selecting the first session if possible so that you can fully enjoy the remainder of the day’s activities on stage, on track and in the vendor area. Plus you may want to take advantage of cooler temps for your track session and let those that didn’t preregister have the heat of the day!

You will not need a number for your car.

CLASSROOM: It is your responsibility to attend the classroom session. If you miss the classroom, you will not get out on track. An on-track pass will be given at the end of class for you to use at grid. If you are participating in more than one Hyperdrive session, you may ask the Chief Instructor for permission to attend only your first classroom session since future ones will be repeats (you must ask permission however, so that he can give you an on-track pass). Failure to comply with the rules set by the classroom instructor or driving in a dangerous manner will result in termination of your session.

We have a limited number of loaner helmets available; however, you are encouraged to bring your own. You will need an M95, SA95 or newer Snell Rated helmet.

FULL EVENT SCHEDULE WILL BE POSTED ASAP WITH ALL HYPERDRIVE SESSIONS LISTED:

http://www.hyper-fest.com

Just remember to remove your center caps on your wheels. I think that is the only difference between Solo tech and HPDE tech, right Gabe?

Yep, 630AM at HT's in Springfield. I slept in till 11 today since I had the day off and I didn't get to bed till 3:30AM (picking up my dad at Dulles at 1:20AM and taking him home). I should be in good shape for fun tonight and tomorrow!

they didn't ask me to remove my center caps at HPDE, but they might this time. I have to remove the wheels to do that... guess I should go ahead and do it. going to pick up some bottled water and get the cooler ready tonight. might help do download directions as well. I'm also going to clean out the car as much as possible and take my plastic tub for the rest. ugh, never enough time to get ready even when I start 2 months in advance!

I'll plan on getting coffee and a quick breakfast before we meet up. no reason to slow the group down. if we eat as a group we won't leave Springfield till 7:30.

Good idea's all! I'm making sure to bring a spray bottle of water for my tires too.... BTW, I presume we need to tape our lights, right? No numbers needed though IIRC.

i'm taking tape and a cooler with water, not much else. shouldn't need too much as it's only 1 session. going to clean out the car as much as possible and bring a plastic tub for the rest...
