Hood struts

Post by TRANS4M »

Since I come from the Audi family, there are some luxuries that I grew accustomed to are not available in my new car. Some things I've come to accept (no sunroof, no leather seats with Alcantara inserts, no heated seats, etc.) but then there is one thing that just does not make sense to me.

Why does this car not have hood struts?! It's the little things in life that make a world of difference.

Are any of you guys using hood struts? Which ones are you going with? Will I need to drill a mounting hole or does it use existing holes.

TIA.

you absolutely can have heated seats... I've got them in my forester.

Hood struts? Look here. Uses factory mounts.

Heated seats? Either buy the OEM kit, or go aftermarket.

Gabe has a set of A/M struts he put on his sun-roofed Subaru. They are quite nifty.

the non heated seats aren't that important b/c the cloth seats are warmer than leather seats in the winter.

Gabe - which struts do you have?

I have some custom hood struts that were made for my forester...I know a bunch of companies make them. So much nicer to not use the stupid OEM hood prop...plus more room to work under the hood :D

Here is a terrible shot of mine:

You should take a look at the GIMMICK MOTORSPORTS

Just a FYI for everyone else out there: 08< WRX's and STI's (I think!) have hood struts and some have heated seats and sun roofs :)

I like how IXIZHood Dampers have the option for stainless steel hardware. You guys have any rust on the hardware?

I can't remember what struts I bought and I'm in San Diego so I can't check till tomorrow. last time I looked I had some very light surface corrosion but nothing that I'm concerned about.
