black sti type front grill anyone know how to make one
anyone know how to do this kinda want the sti look and it is expsive order the real deal just wondering

I think I had a semi-write up on SF.org or maybe it was on the older SF.com before that got killedz...
Basically, you carefully mark off the section on the back that you want to cut. I use a utility knife for cutting (yes, it takes a long time but works better than a dremel for me but maybe you can do better).
I then proceded to sand down the rough edges and paint it using gloss black automotive paint (can get this any automotive store).
I ordered a sheet of powder coated mesh off of ebay. I then cut that to fit. I then attached it using the existing screws (7 IIRC) and 3-5 black zipties. I then took the front subaru pleiad7 emblem from the original grille and glue it dead center of the mesh using construction adhesive (forget about ever getting it back off )
I don't have any pictures during the making but here is the final product but dirty:
Stage 1 w/ chrome trim
Stage 2 w/ painted trim
Stage 3 w/ painted trim
