Subaru Challenge 2005
Sept. 17, 2005 at Ripken Stadium
http://www.subaruchallenge.com/
Since I haven't seen any of you guys *cough Julian cough* at any autoxes this year and this one is Subaru only, who's going?
Shawn and I will be there, either flogging my mother's almost bone stock '99 Forester or (hopefully) my brother's Saab 9-2x Aero.

Ouch, I felt that! I believe I am free that weekend and I might just have to make it out there!
Thanks for letting us know! Anyone else want to join me?

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

He don't wanna give up the Chevy.
Hmmm, a month and a half. MIght be enough time to get the powerplant running, but Captain, she just won't take the extra power, and damnit Jim, I'm not a mechanic.
Maybe I'll just have to go stock.

You know, I should start watching to make sure that he doesn't start house fires like the Cavalier group in So. MD!zaxrex wrote:He don't wanna give up the Chevy.

Well, I had a blast on Saturday.
Got there, swapped the new wheels onto my mom's car and laughed hysterically for 5 min. at the huge wheel gap allowing us to see her very stock struts and springs. Then we registered, got our cool Subaru duffle bags w/ goodies inside and loaded up on the other free goodies they had there, eyed the pretty cars on display and walked the course. As an "experienced autoxer", I got to be a pole captain and boss everyone around. My mom worked Pole 7 w/ me and we worked heat 1 while Shawn was running. Every run he did, my mom hopped up on the pole to watch him till the end and said she didn't know her Forester could go that fast. We hung out during Heat 2 and chilled, enjoyed our free lunch and then ran in Heat 3. My mom and I were the only ones in STSL and I beat her by about 13 sec. It was only her 2nd autox and she dropped 13 sec. from her 1st run by the end and stayed on course, so she was very happy.
At the end of the day, they had the Challenge runs between the top 32 drivers and then trophies. Shawn got 5th in STS and was only 0.157 seconds from trophying, not bad for only a Kartboy and wheels. After it was all over, the non-Subarus got to play. A new 2 day old Mustang GT w/ temp tags and 150 miles on the clock was "properly broken in" and we got to take some runs in a STX Mini, I got a 42 sec. ride in a STi and then we helped tear down everything and pack up the truck. All told, the event ended at 4pm and we left at 6pm, not bad at all. Can't wait till next year's event!!!
Here's a pic of Shawn tormenting the Forester:
