Grindhouse -- the movie

Post by zaxrex »

OK, April 6 is the opening day for Rodriguez/Tarantino flick with cars, girls, and zombies.

Who is down for the 8:00 showing at Regal Potomac Yard 16?

Maybe a little pre-movie entertainment at "Hops" or the Mexican Joint?

Urgh... I may or may not be driving up to Philly that night. Giving the usual traffic patterns, I'll probably wait till the wee hours to make my travel anyway. Simply put, I'm a definite: maybe.

How bad is this? I am going to have to flake on my own thread!

I have to secure my new place at 7:30 in Springfield. That don't leave me enough time to make it back up to the movies.

But don't let me bring you down if you wanted to go. Follow your hearts.

Review: Tarantino and Rodriguez Tweak Grindhouse Cinema

...but for me, Planet Terror was too much Airplane- and Scary Movie-style spoof, with its jokey style wearing out its charm.

Next came the "intermission," with three trailers for imaginary horror films. One, Don't, by the director of Shaun of the Dead, is the most entertaining short film I've seen this year. Then came Tarantino's Death Proof, which starts as a Slacker-like talkfest and then slowly transmutes into a horror film.

...The film's final 10 or so minutes include the most thrilling, gut-wrenching car chase ever, all filmed without digital effects.

isn't postponing the same thing as seeing a later showing?

I vote that we wait for the Z man to return from his business trip, since he was the one so hyped to see it in the first place.

From the sounds of it we're postponing. Ah well, is Zig's still open or did they shut'em down already?
