2006 DCAWD AutoX class with Brian Garfield!

Post by ElZorro »

Great news! I'm coordinating with Brian Garfield to arrange another weekday AutoX class, our third annual. (Details at http://solo.wdcr-scca.org/noviceSchool.php) For those that participated last year, or the year before, you know how much fun this is. For those that didn't, check our gallery at http://gallery.dcawd.com/DCAWDMeet071204 for some pictures. (Definetly check out the videos, they give you a flavor of what happened). Last year was one groups of 6 and the year before two groups of 6. We worked through the material that would be covered in a level 1 and level 2 course, so this year some of us may opt for level 2 and level 3. Even if you don't plan on doing AutoX this can help you become more confident behind the wheel and help you understand what your car is capable of.

The date is Tuesday 13 June. I would like all cash in hand by 18 May, thats one week. Contact me and let me know if you want to snail mail or paypal. Cost is $165, this covers the class and lunch. (Plus a small amount of "reserve" we will use for DCAWD). Well worth it for a day of guided instuction (him in the car with you, him driving your car and embarrasing you to the point you cry like a little girl, your friends laughing at how many cones you hit, etc). If we can not fill a day the class will be more and you will have a chance to opt out. We will take cash or check, and Paypal is available (you will need to pay the charges, contact me in advance for the cost). Because the number of people taking the class effects the price, if you need to cancel it is your responsibility to sell your spot to someone else. This is a "rain or shine" event.

Right now we are looking at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen MD. At Ripken they can do a class of 12 with two instructors, cost of $165/person. Ripken Stadium is a much much much better location, it has a much bigger lot, with fewer light poles in the center.

Priority will be given in this order:

- Folks that went previously
- DCAWD forum members
- AWD cars
- Anyone else

So, what do you need to do?
- Send me an email (jason nospamno at dcawd.com) or PM (Elzorro on http://forums.dcawd.com, http://www.nasioc.com and http://www.subaruforester.com) and let me know which day you prefer, your contact info (email and !phone number!) and your car details (make, model, mods, tires).
- Get a helmet.

Look forward to hearing from you!

damn, wish we could do it this month! but after all the stink I've raised I must commit to doing the Lv1/2 class. I'll check for sure tomorrow, but I think May 17 will be the lesser of 2 evils for my schedule...

I'm in. 8)

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

Put my little brother Patrick in for the Level 1/2. I'll talk to him today and see which date would be better for him.

If we can get the money together quick enough, and we can get the first group to agree to move it up, we may be able to get it done in April.

Go back into the gallery and check out the Forester pictures :) Also, do a Google Video search for "DCAWD Autox" and check out Aaron's video from the first year, it includes a Forester spin out. :)

My brother says a Wednesday would be better for him, which means May 17th. What would be the April dates? And he'll be rocking my mom's Forester. :)

April dates are TBD, it all depends on how fast we can get people to agree and pay. I think it is unlikely that we can pull it together that fast.

April is a BIG mess for me. Class is starting, etc. It's going to be tough to get away from work and skoolz.

Ok, any other takers on this? I'm gonna post it up on NASIOC and a couple other sites in the next day or two.
