My exhuast adventure thread
I picked up a cobb replica 3" CBE like I had on my 1st Saabaru. I am just scared it will be too loud once I go stage 2. I also have a gutted stock cat I could use with any of the follwing combos:
a. Cobb replica 3" CBE
b. STI resonated mid pipe & Cobb replica axleback
c. STI CBE
Test#1: The STI resonated mid pipe would not bolt up to the Cobb replica axleback. I could get the bolts to go through but they are at a slight angle. I would need to expand both holes slightly.

It depends on what you are looking for.
At stage 2, the exhaust won't make any noticeable power difference (5 whp maybe).
I would go ahead and install what you like and see how it sounds. If the Cobb knock-off is too loud, you have the stock to go back to.
If you want the resonator in the stock intermediate pipe gone, you can always buy one. Daddy's has their own as well as the Stromung:

How does the the stock STI CBE sound at stage 2?
There is a guy in VB who has a strmung dual tip axleback (2.5") for $200 I was thinking about.

installed fill 3" CBE...may be too loud for my tastes. Time to enlarge the holes of the STI midpipe.

I am able to pick up a 2.5" SPT midpipe for cheap...I plan to bolt it up to the STI axleback. It should bolt right up...right?

Re: My exhuast adventure thread
I have never heard of a 2.5" SPT mid-pipe. Both of my SPT pipes have been 3".
If it is 3" you may have some issues. The flange bolt pattern is the same, but the STi flange may not be big enough to cover the extra .5" gap. I also suspect you will likely have issues with the gasket.

Looks like you are giving Bubb Rubb a run for his whistle tips.
