Green Bean Cassorole DSM
My 1992 Plymouth Laser AWD turbo rally reccecar.
It is used to drive the roads prior to a rally to create the pacenotes (detailed road information about turns, curves, jumps, hazards that the codriver conveys to the driver while rallyracing).
The engine was rebuilt in 2005. On the dyno it was pumping 302HP to all four wheels at 20lbs boost on pumpgas.
Sorta old pic of engine compartment.
It has Wiesco Pistons, Eagle connecting rods, ACL main & rod bearings, Crower valve springs, 272 HKS cams, all ARP fasteners, Mitsu 4 layer metal head gasket, ported & polished head, 3angle valve job, Ferrea valves, Ferrea Competition Plus valve guides, Ferrea Competion Plus Valve stem seals, Slowboy Racing intake spacer, 3rd generation lifters, balance shaft removed, Evo3 16G turbo, Evo3 exhaust manifold, SlowBoy Racing polished exhaust manifold heatshield, 3inch downpipe, polished stainless highflow O2 sensor housing with atmospheric wastegate dump, Apexi 3 inch exhaust w/ straight pipe, Greddy PRoFec-B SpecII electonic boost controller & TurboSmart Dual Stage boost controller, Turbo XS BOV, SlowBoyRacing front mount intercooler kit with Spearco core from Turbonetics, Blitz turbo timer, Magnacor 10.4mm ignition wires, relocated ignition coil with Bilbo Automotive bracket, iradium plugs, CarbonTrix carbon fiber plug cover, K&N airfilter charger, BBK fuel pump, RC 550cc injectors, AEM fuel rail, BauscherRacing fuel pressure regulator, fuel rail mounted fuel pressure gauge, SlowBoy Racing steel braided fuel line kit, Mr Gasket billet fuel filter, A'Pexi S-AFC II air-fuel controller mounted in center dash vent, Optima redtop deepcell battery relocated to trunk with cut-off switch, MachV oil filter housing/oil cooler upgrade with steel-braided hoses and AeroQuip fittings, Helical cut oil pump gear, Fluidyne aluminum radiator, UnorthodoxRacing crank pulley, PowerEnterprise kevlar timing belt, high output alternator, AC removed, JMFab FIAV Bypass plate, JMFab EGR block off plate, silicone vacuum lines, stainless steel oil catch can, stainless steel coolant overflow bottle, RalliArt oil cap, SPEC alum. flywheel, SPEC clutch, Fidanza chromoly axles and CV joints, rebuilt AWD transmission w/ double syncros and Evo3 bits by Bilbo Automotive ...
CarbonTrix hood vent, CarbonTrix kidney vents & CarbonTrix small NACA duct,
A-pillar double gaugepod with boost and amperage gauges
and carbonfiber triple gaugepod with air-fuel mixture, oil temperature & coolant temperature gauges, KYB AGX adjustable struts all around, front and rear strut tower braces, crossdrilled and slotted front rotors, Carbonfiber shiftknob and Ebrake handle, Fidanza short-throw shifter, Symborski shifter kit, Precision bearing cable shifter bushings, RalliArt steering wheel, Zeron rally odometer, Alpine detachable face CD player, codriver map light, chrome fire extingisher, hoodpins, skidplate, X3Racing chrome euro-style projector headlights, clear side markers, (2) Hella 4000 rally lights, (2)Hella 500 rally lights, Ralli-Art emblems, chrome fire extinguisher, 8 point Competition Engineering rollcage, RalliArt racing seats, 4 point Simpson camlock harnesses....

I knew you had a lot done to that car, but that is a LOT more than I was expecting! Very nice build

Honestly, how long did it take you to remember everything you've done to that amazing car? That's one awesome build.

Thanks. I have a pornographic memory.complacent wrote:Honestly, how long did it take you to remember everything you've done to that amazing car?
That was just the stuff I had to to write when I posted. Add Zenon headlight bulbs, Wurth headlight wiring connectors, custom front bumper, KYB strut mounts, cruise control removed, single throttle cable, MachV powder-coated valve cover, Sparco steering wheel hub, LongAcre high density rollbar padding, Slowboy J-pipe, Cool-Tube O2 wire loom, M3A car alarm w/ hood sensor, .....

Re: Green Bean Cassorole DSM
Great looking car. Love the mods you chose (and not just because I'm rocking most of the same ) Definitely not a dyno queen build, a much more functional car. This thing must crank when you race it.

The skidplate
Took some pics of the skidplate today to share w/ someone on another forum who wanted to build one.
And here is closeup showing tapered section for suspension clearance.
And the battle scars! Lots of scratches but once it got dented pretty well and took a major pounding with sledge hammer to straighten out. First I tried running it over w/ forklift (forklifts are really heavy) and it didn't budge the dent.

Re: Green Bean Cassorole DSM
Been awhile since I've updated this. I did a time trial race at Summit Point on the main track last weekend. Some recent mods include deleting the ABS system, stainless brake hoses, AEM wideband, silicone radiator hoses, K-Sport gravel rally suspension. For the time trial I was going to use some Hoosier slicks we had at the shop but last minute a customer rented our BMW drifto car for the races run w/ the time trial so I got stuck w/ street tires on Mustang rims. Did not bother getting camber plates yet so car was very high at lowest coilover setting without screwy camber.
Need larger brakes. At some point before I had the car, seems my spindles got swapped w/ a non-turbo and it has tiny rotors so my brakes would go squishy mid-session.
Will swap in upgrades before I track it again. Turned 1:39s learning the track and 1:37s without pushing too hard knowing I wouldn't have brakes if I went any faster.
Yeah me.
Brakes, camber plates and new race tires on Santa's list for me.

Re: Green Bean Cassorole DSM
Ksports were OK.
I ran on medium settings and despite the coil height limitations, not major body roll.
