ShmooCon 2013

Post by ElZorro »

http://www.shmoocon.org
ShmooCon

DIFFERENT - ShmooCon is an annual east coast hacker convention hell-bent on offering three days of an interesting atmosphere for demonstrating technology exploitation, inventive software and hardware solutions, and open discussions of critical infosec issues. The first day is a single track of speed talks called One Track Mind. The next two days bring three tracks: Build It, Belay It and Bring It On.

AFFORDABLE - ShmooCon is about high quality without the high price. Keep in mind that space is limited and we've sold out quickly every year.

ACCESSIBLE - ShmooCon is held in Washington, DC at the Hyatt Regency Washington just a few short blocks from Union Station. Fly into DCA, IAD or BWI or take a train to Union Station and you're just a short cab ride away from the con.

ENTERTAINING - Brain melting from all the cool tech you're learning? Be sure to check out the other events running during ShmooCon, including the Lockpick Village, ShmooCon Labs, Hack Fortress and more. Saturday night is party night, where typically we throw an off site bash just to shake things up a bit.
IMPORTANT DATES AND DEADLINES

November 1, 2012, Noon EDT - First round of ticket sales, 500 tickets available
December 1 2012, Noon EST - Second round of ticket sales, 500 tickets available
January 1, 2013, Noon EST - Third and final round of ticket sales, 200 tickets available
February 15-17, 2013 - 9th Annual ShmooCon
If you are in infosec, or are a hacker on the side, definitely consider making it to this. Tickets are a :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor: :censor: ...... :censor: :censor: to get, but well worth it.

(and I call dibs on an extra tickets anyone comes up with)

Good time, highly recommended if you can get a ticket.

There's a slim chance I might be in DC that weekend, but even if I am I doubt I'll be able to attend.

Is that less tickets than last year? For some reason, I thought it was 1700 last year, but I could be wrong.

Wasn't last year the year where they had an extra round of ticket sales because the moose cluster shat itself?

FYI
November 1 Ticket Sales Postponed
Posted On: 2012-10-27 17:15:53

Hey Folks,

It's looking like the east coast is going to get hit pretty hard by hurricane Sandy. There's likely to be a lot of disruption to power and net access and we're going to take the next couple of days to focus on homes and families and just not worry about sales right now.

We will announce a new sales date within the week once we know the true impact of the storm.

Additionally, the CFP server may become unreachable since it is currently located in a flood zone.

Thanks for understanding.

Ticket Sales
Posted On: 2012-11-06 20:00:00

Again thanks to everyone for being patient. We had quite a few schedules to juggle to come up with a new date for ticket sales - that being said, the new date is Thursday, November 15th.

One more time: The first round of ticket sales for ShmooCon 2013 will be Thursday, November 15th at noon, EST
