Odd noise on my Benz...

Post by PGT »

noticed this tonight after the car was parked for a few hours. Just after, you can hear capacitors...like the sound of shock paddles.

What gives?? The voltage regulator was replaced in February, under warranty.

lol, sounds like a band saw to me!

Seriously though, is that a DI engine? If so, my first thought is that is it priming the fuel system (since they run such high fuel pressures)... past that, I have no clue :(

Oh, for some odd reason I thought it was when the key was turned... lol, sorry, guess I was just tired.

That is REALLY odd. Definitely call MB! There is no way a coil pack should be getting charged with the key not in the ignition!

And this is why I refuse to buy any modern German cars.
All my cars have drum brakes and are sub 200 hp, what am I doing with my life?

might be a viable answer if this car had that system; it does not. active suspension instead.

as for "modern German" car....well, at least the dealer fixes things under warranty and the first time in (unlike 95% of Subaru dealers).
