Does this listing sound good? (megan exhaust)

Post by scheherazade »

I would only need the down pipe and high flow cat.

This thing apparently uses a 'CEL fix'.

Why would it need a CEL fix if the cat is still there?
Is it just that the reported sensor values are not what is expected? Or is there just no place to install the sensors?

Anyone ever used a megan exhaust? Any opinions?

I'm assuming that even with the cat the O2 sensor is seeing temperatures and/or AFR's outside of norm due to higher flow, hence the need for the O2 fix.

For $250 I'd say that's awful hard to beat, unless the product is crummy and/or damaged. (Haven't used Megan Racing exhaust parts)

Despite what the seller says on that post there is NO CAT in that system!

That pipe is a Megan Racing Resonated Test-Pipe. I can't say wether or not the seller knows he is lying or not, but I assure you that is NOT a CAT!

Also, unless you need that cat-back section I don't think that is a great deal. You can pick-up down-pipe and test pipes new on-line for less than $150 together. There are ebay deals for down-pipes with o2 housings and test-pipes for under $200. Do some searches and grab whichever you like. They are pretty much all the same.

If your going to go to the trouble of taking off your down-pipe, you might as well replace your stock o2 housing as well, they make good HP gains and are pretty inexpensive.

Well, the car came with an HKS carbon & titanium cat back, way more $$ than the megan cat back.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if this was worth grabbing for later.
I'll keep an eye out for more down-pipe & cat deals.
