Garage builds?

Post by prorallycodriver »

No forum for garage builds?

So, we have a complete shop w/ lifts, but storage space is limited and needed somewhere to keep toys. Started building 4 car garage this spring and just now finished. Pretty much just me and 18 year old bro-in-law busting our asses every weekend.

Just need to install rain gutters.

And build some shelves inside.

That is impressive for just being the two of you! Garages are definitely allowed in this section!

I wish I had one of my own like that!

no garage build forum because so few of us own a house, and even those that do don't have the space.

Shacking up w/ Capt Jack

Post by prorallycodriver »

Years ago, I rented warehouse space for my toys. Guy I shared it w/ was millionaire playboy. He had collection of sports cars, luxury cars, motorcycles, limo he stored there I was permitted to use. I did take my wife to movies in the limo when we we first started dating.

In the winter, he stored his cigarette boat inside the warehouse. We had a beach party inside one winter; bikinis, volleyball, margaritas, Jimmy Buffet on the super surround sound, .....people pretending to be sunbathing up on the boat.

Good times. Don't think this garage will live upto them.

That's my situation, tried keeping a car at my uncle's place and it's just too much of a hassle. Consolidating down to one nice (hopefully new) car.
All my cars have drum brakes and are sub 200 hp, what am I doing with my life?

The kids race them at Summit Point with Woodbridge Karting Club but 2 weekends ago they entered a SCCA autoX at FedEx field.

You can learn a lot from a simulator.
You may not pick up poise, finesse, or 'feel', but you will know what does what.

I'll take a kid that plays a "747 game" as an emergency pilot, over some random dude that stayed at a holiday inn last night.

Insulation and paneling will be next summer project. This winter its just dry storage and can turn on overkill forced heater to keep warm if needed. We have our auto repair business nearby which is heated if wanted to really fix something.

Thanks. Its whats in there now. More stuff in the driveway and at the shop. Really need an 8 car garage or warehouse just for the toys.

Envious of steed77's garage and cars.

Did you post the build here on garage journal? If you haven't seen it before, check it out. There are simple clean & organize jobs to Million dollar plus dream garages, posted and annotated by the owners. It's nuts.
