not my build, but I thought it was interesting.

IndyNews link
Roth spent about 10 weeks building the car, a project he contends just about anyone can do.

"If I can do it with no mechanical ability and no engineering degree, no electrician's degree, then certainly anyone else can do it with basic skills," he said.

That's quite an impressive bit of work!

I must admit I'm slightly concerned about the crash worthiness of the end product though. The range has me all frown-squad too.

Still, pretty freaking cool for 13k.

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

Pretty cool, but in the end this is not going to replace a real car.
With an average range of just over 30 miles and a 10-12 hour charge time this is not in any way a practical vehicle.
And who has 170 hours to sacrifice on this kind of project. That's almost 3 full months worth of weekends.

Converted weight: 3200lbs (1840fr/1360r)
Top speed tested to date: 70mph
Range (miles): 15-30 winter; 40-50 summer
Charge time: 10-12hrs
Time to convert: 170hrs
