Well I finally decided on suspension for the GC.

AllWheelsDriven Bilstein/H&R 40mm Gravel Coilovers

They were recommended to me by someone whom I trust (who also uses them) and just for a little humor.

(Pic from when he was at Rally Idaho. It was like a 1000 meter stretch and the organizers built a weird mound of dirt in the road making an impromptu jump where there was nothing before)

Both suspensions survived.

Sorry for the lack of updates. The project has been moving forward but I am holding some of these cards close to my chest  You will just have to wait and see what has been going on.

Well now that Alvin is living in the area I can hopefully crash at his place for a night. If I'm off work I'll try to make it to the next meet!

 My friend rhino-lined his entire GC. I'll have to see if I can pull up pics. That's not the route I'm taking though.

Well I can finally share some of the more interesting news.

This car will have a custom carbon fiber dash, door cards, and other panels courtesy of Carbotron Composites. This means the freedom to integrate some very interesting things! I have 100% creative control to design whatever I want for this one-off custom dash. Any suggestions?

This also means I will be in the market for a gauge cluster.

I have two prime candidates.

The AIM MXL and the Stack ST8130. Any input from anyone?

The AIM MXL Strada is currently ahead due to price and options

I can always just use the stock gauge cluster worst case scenario. This should fit into the budget no problem though. I'm mostly pumped about the custom one-off CF interior.

Anyone here interested in buying a full 02 WRX interior?

GC heads off to Team Havspeed to start construction this week! Looks like the first thing on the schedule is seam-welding.

In other news I finally got my arse motivated again on getting the WRX stripped and just about finished the interior in a blitz last night.

Time for the wiring loom to go on a diet

That ish weighs a ton!

Also the parts shelf is starting to get a little too full. Time to start selling stuff Is anyone looking for anything in particular?

The car is now in the hands of Havspeed. It's getting ready to be blasted and seam-welded. The cage is going to be fairly modern actually. He's taking some pages from the WRC cars which results in less material used and less weight without sacrificing strength.

Here's a shot of the last GC that rolled out his shop door.

Image

His welds are quality

Image

And here's the man himself in his own car.

Image

Apart from the cage he will also be assisting in quickening the steering and actually is throwing in a powdercoat for the whole interior. I'll have more info on that later as decisions are made. For now our only goal is to get the cage in and nothing more.

Also the search for a good co-driver now begins as well. The one that was originally supposed to co-drive for me had a baby so he's down for the count for a bit.

Pics of the seam welding and cage construction coming very soon!!

Check out these sweet new wheels. I mounted them in closer to the center for super scientific purposes. You can call me the drift king. I can go totally sideways with these babies.

Big props, again, go out to Andrew Havas. The car is currently getting tossed into an oven. It will serve up to a family of six. Or maybe it's actually going to just get media blasted when it's done. I duno. Fresh roast GC is always so tasty.

Well, if you are looking to get rid of stuff, I could use the fender liner and under tray of the WRX.

Both fender liners or just one?

I think the under-tray is still good.
