Very cool Dave! I have been thinking of going that route too. There is a lot to be said with going for the EG33 (sadly, the EZ36 with it's dual AVCS is attractive, but it really is not made for much boost)

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

EZ36 rods scare the crap out of me:

Actually I'm glad you brought up the EZ series. My resident engineer/mad scientist actually discussed why he liked the EG platform when someone else questioned about an EZ a week or so ago.
Jason wrote:I like what you're doing but I really think the EZ isn't the H6 to build. I think the best way to make the EJs better is to increase bore spacing, and running a timing chain to keep it the same length or shorter, with only 4 cylinders. Even just 10mm to the bore could give you normal sized rod bearings and more space for head drainback so you can get rid of the dogleg ports. For H6 the EG is it, for me. Just cause it doesn't reduce bore spacing(ultimately, sealing and bearing area) or compromise the bore (which ultimately limits valve area and lift and flow). Reduced bore spacing was a stumbling block for the Ford modular engines for over a decade. I understand the draw of the easy fit and VVT, I certainly hope it works out for you, but there's something to be said for learning from history and keeping it simple.
