As of right now, we are going to keep the roof rack setup. I'll let you know if we decide to take it off.

Finally got a chance to work on this again. My work schedule is crazy now that the govt (at least my branch) has money to burn. I mainly did a lot of cosmetic little things that I really didn't photo document. I got my wagon windows into the STi doors, STi side skirts installed, and all the brake stuff done.
So here is how she looks now:
Image
I am actually going to have to sell the rear WRX hub to STi Brembo conversion since I am going full swap and these wont work with the swap:
Image
Then after that, I tackled the rusty engine crossmember, subframe and trans removal:

An example of the cancer under the hood:

And this is the other project slowing down the wagons progess:

That crossmember rust looks pretty serious. You plan on fixing it or just getting a replacement that's in better shape?

I'm sure you've already seen it, but Mach V was parting out a 2009 STI. They had the engine/tranny combo for $5500 (available separately too) and the wire harness for $450, IIRC. No idea of market prices but I'm sure they're on the high side otherwise they've be gone by now.

I did see that and $2700 isnt terrible for the engine, but it looks like is no longer a complete long block as he has removed the TGV's, fuel rails, and other small things. Thanks for the heads up though.

On a side note, that Jeep seen some trails yet?

Yep....a private farm up in MD. I've got the trails scratches to prove it. LOL. Once on stock suspension/tires and the second time with the 3.5" lift and 35's. AMAZING capabilities...seriously. climbing up an off-camber hill in the mud at a 45 degree up the hill
...sliding one direction (down) while pulling sideways around trees and such. Locking diffs FTW.

I'm not counting the beach trip to Corolla....that's hardly a test of its capabilities. :P

Yeah, lockers are the way to go. I have a Grizzly in the rear of mine. Trying to decide what I want for my 60 up front. I need to get mine out on the trails soon. Need to source a winch first though.

Looks like this project will have to go on the chopping block. To many other projects need to take priority over it. Will put a ad in the sales section for the project as a roller or maybe part it.

Sorry to see it go. I thought you were making good progress. Is there a new project in the works?

Not another project yet. I have a house to finish and (3) other vehicle to maintain. Maybe in a year or so.
