So, last year my teen-age bro-in-law borrowed his older brother's Nissan roadrace car for a couple drift events until he put it into the wall backwards requiring extensive body repair. So, big bro-in-law says no more Nissan to younger bro-in-law, but you can have my truck and build it if you want. Little bro-in-law took it.

First gutted it. Then lowered it, Camaro KYB AGXs on rear. Then swapped in a manual transmission. Nice wheel spacers and fender flairs.

Sparco seat and harnesses. Added hydraulic handbrake. Added some aftermarket gauges. Aftermarket steering wheel.

And now, is drifting it. My pics suck but you get the idea.

Next, "Mall Security" graphics and yellow strobe on roof.

OK, went again this weekend after doing a little headwork and slight increase in compression ratio by shaving head. We have a spare stock motor so no V8 swaps for awhile.

Ran the whole day w/ no issues.

Next mod, rack & pinion steering.

Drifttruck has been modded over the summer. First was fabricating bits to improve the steering rack design for greater turning angles. This week, he added DSM tubular exhaust manifold and turbo, FMIC, and supporting mods to run low boost. few loose ends to tie up tomorrow but hope to drift Summit Point next Saturday. Come out if you can. Some videos from the summer here:

So much for turbo, there is no replacement for displacement. V8 Inside.

I dunno. Guess he got the donor cheap or free.

Anyhow, was down to the wire last week getting ready for drift event yesterday. Finally gave up getting proper clutch engagement between the Mazda master cylinder and Ford slave cylinder and swapped in a CNC racing master cylinder for proper travel. Then find the transmission needs rebuild. Friday my brother overnights a rebuild kit from N Carolina which we get Saturday 11 AM and rebuild in the afternoon and then pack for the track w/ no real testing.

Introducing Mazda Drifttruck Evo III.

V8 was awesome. It had the grunt to give power to link all the corners together. Little bro-in-law got 2nd place w/ his homebuilt jalopy only 2 points shy of sponsored tubular Nismo driftcar out of 37 contenders in the 'Pro' -highest class.
