--AlanAudi-doody: Audi announced it will build a production version of its concept Le Mans Quattro that debuted in 2003 at the Frankfurt show. The aluminum-intensive all-wheel-drive supercar will be called the R8 in honor of the race car that won Le Mans. It will be based largely on the Lamborghini Gallardo's platform. Production is set to begin in Germany at the end of this year with sales beginning in the spring of 2007. Unlike the show car that was powered by a twin-turbo V-10, the production version will get the new 5.2-liter version of the Gallardo engine with at least the 450 horsepower of the Audi S8. The engine will be mated to a beefier version of Audi's twin-clutch DSG. We bet this one sells for about $90,000.

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.
