Warrior Dash - Saturday, May 21, 2011

Post by Sabre »

Suzie and I just signed up for the Warrior Dash. We're in the 3PM wave of warriors. Feel free to join if you like!!!
RACE LENGTH: 3.11 hellish miles
What do I get?
Free beer*
Fuzzy Warrior helmet
Bad-ass Warrior Dash t-shirt
Custom Warrior Dash finisher medal
Live music
Post-race snack and water
Warrior Dash race bib
The pride that comes along with being a Warrior
Additional beer, clothing, merchandise and food items (think turkey legs, corn on the cob, etc) will be available for purchase on race day. Vegetarian food options will be available, however gluten free food and beverages are not guaranteed.
*One beer is included for each participant who is of legal age to consume alcohol.
How do I train for Warrior Dash?
Day one: run as far as you can. Go home.
Day two: do the same thing.
Find the dirtiest pond in your neighborhood and snorkel in it - in your slippers, without goggles.
Practice your climbing and crawling skills at your local jungle gym. Ignore the small children and parental glares.
Do not shower or shave for weeks in order to obtain a true Warrior look.
Seriously though, your best bet is to do plenty of running leading up to the race.
For Chuck:
I can't swim. Can I participate in Warrior Dash?
Absolutely. You aren't required to swim in any race. Any body of water you'll be traveling through is only three to four feet deep
What if it rains?
Better yet.

Oh, I might have to sign up for the Spartan as well!

BTW, I know a certain headquarters where it almost seems like a requirement that the women wear thongs... needless to say, I don't mind going there :)

Haha! I thought about that but with all the running, jumping, crawling, and climbing there's a good chance the kilt won't finish with me. And that kind of show costs extra. ;)

Here is a pic someone else took. I'll get the pictures of Chuck and I up soon.

It was a GREAT experience and definitely something I will do again. The only bad part was, at the very end I dove into the muddy water, not realizing how shallow it was and hurt my neck. All should be fine though, it's already feeling better.

I was a little let down by the course. I did get muddy as expected but not nearly the workout I was expecting and also they didn't have all the obstacles advertised in pics on the website :(

A good experience to share stories about, though :D

Still trying to salvage the shoes...might be a lost cause :rolllaugh:

Each event is unique, so you won't always have all of the obstacles that they show on the site. I saw a lot of people huffing and puffing, so I think for most people it was a work out ;)

The one thing I wish is that the slide had been wetter... haha, I ran up one side and threw myself over the edge... only to stop 5 ft later because it wasn't slippery enough... then about half way down I sped up again since I hit a wet spot.

yeah, same thing happened to me...I was looking forward to the slide, too. The ground under the slide had deep grooves so it pretty much stuck you to that line....well, until you stopped.
