2010 Evolution X FQ-400

Post by Libra Monkee »

Image
With 403bhp and 387lb.ft of torque on offer from its advanced, lightweight aluminium 2.0-litre turbocharged MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control) petrol engine the FQ-400 is able to reach 62mph from standstill in an estimated 3.8 seconds before reaching an electronically limited 155mph – where permitted.
Would you like to know more?

But for $80K I'd buy an Aston.

Queue Bond music.

This is the problem with any of the FQ series EVOs, for $35,000 the EVO is worth every penny. For $80k there are better cars!
The bang for the buck of an EVO is fantastic, but for that money it's just not worth it.
Honestly, they are charging another $45k for:
Eibach springs and Bilstein Shock Absorbers.
Lightweight 18-inch, nine spoke alloy wheels fitted with Toyo Proxes R1R tyres.
High-flow fuel injectors and a new hybrid turbocharger.
Enhanced intercooler, and 3-inch diameter high flow stainless steel piping and catalytic convertor.
Remapped Engine Control Unit (ECU).
Alcon brakes.
I'm pretty certain I could get all that for around $5k thank you very much.

I don't think you can get an Aston for $80k. at least not a new one.

that said there's NO WAY I'd pay that price for an Evo or STi or S2000 or any other "tuner" car. IMHO tuner cars are cool because of what they can do on a budget.

For 80k, I'd just buy a 4-5 year old lambo.

Looks and performs great, but I completely agree with everyone above: Too much for a tuner car

Anyone with even the slightest mechanical inclination can build and spec a similar evo way way way cheaper. the FQ warranty isn't even that great... and as everyone else has pointed to. i'd spend my extra 40k making the evo do things it was created for:

I'd rather have the 290 hp one and just keep the $40K+ in my pocket. The last thing I need in north VA traffic is more power.
All my cars have drum brakes and are sub 200 hp, what am I doing with my life?

This is the Evo we can't get over here, right? The one that can properly oversteer?

Yes, it's the one we can't get here.
The cost is $80k because it was converted from GBP to USD.
IMO, it'll be cheaper if they ever release it here.
E.g. GT-R is $83k in USA and GBP 60.7k ($93k converted) in UK.

these special editions with more power won't show up in the US because of our federalization laws. still hard to imagine someone paying that kind of cash for an EVO (or STi, or S2000) that isn't fully race preped.
