Evo X news...

Post by Sabre »

From Edmunds, so it's pretty reliable. I was SHOCKED by some of the stuff in it.
Edmunds wrote: What We Know: The 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X will be an all-new feature vehicle when it appears in early 2007. While the Lancer Evolution IX received a face-lift and some other minor changes when it went on sale this year, the Evo X will more or less be rebuilt from the ground up on a brand-new platform which it will share with the next-generation versions of the Chrysler PT Cruiser, Dodge Caliber, and even the Mitsubishi Outlander SUV. In addition to the new sheet metal on the outside, which is believed to greatly reduce the vehicle's weight, the 2007 Evo will get more power as well. Underneath the hood, the 2007 Lancer Evolution X will feature a slightly more powerful version of its turbocharged MIVEC 2.0-liter four-cylinder, with horsepower boosted past the 300 mark. This engine will be paired with a clutchless six-speed transmission that can be shifted manually via steering-wheel-mounted paddles.
I'm actually pretty suprised they are staying with a 2.0 instead of upping that insince they are going to a new engine anyway.[/quote]

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

As a former EVO owner.... BAH!

"rebuilt from the ground up on a brand-new platform which it will share with the next-generation versions of the Chrysler PT Cruiser, Dodge Caliber, and even the Mitsubishi Outlander SUV" BAH!

"with a clutchless six-speed transmission " BAH!

So disapointed!

They will need the bump in power if they are going to share the platform with the SUV and American boats. Heavy on the inside regardless of how much weight you save with sheetmetal...
Patience is the ability to idle your motor when you feel like stripping your gears

as a car fan, I'm hoping this means that the "Chrysler PT Cruiser, Dodge Caliber" are moving upscale...

the clutchless transmission might be cool. the VW/Audi one is getting good reviews, but the M6 is being criticized. go figure.

My friend's dad just sold their Hyundai SantaFe for a PT Cruiser. Apparently, a Mini was in contention, but lost out. She's a little pissed.

That man should have his testosterone license revoked.

hrm.. interresting. wonder how the clutchless 6-speed will be accepted among all those ricer street racers that zoom around PA here in their evos and cluster together in parking lots at midnight blasting music and turning on their neon lights....
