Boxer history and FB20 assembly

Angled con-rods? Is that necessary for the engine, or just for ease of assembly? If they have to be offset like that, aftermarket rods are going to be Texa$

All the "new" engines are like this. It started with the 3.0-3.6 in the Legacy, Outback and Tribeca. That's how they gained the .6 of displacement. Then it went to the Foz 2.5, then Leggy/Outback and now all of the cars will recieve the turned rods in FA/FB's.
