Question:

the rally car has it's intercooler there as well. Is this better for some reason? I assume SWRT didn't go with a FMIC because of risk of punctures? Why would the average street car owner want to put it there? Something to do with flow/lag or cooling since it's not directoly over the engine? Just idle curiosity....

Why would someone put it there:

-B/C a TMIC gets crazy heat soak
-B/C they want to be different
-B/C placing it there won't block air flow to the radiator
-B/C they want their car to be similar to a rally car
-B/C they can
-B/C you can get to all the piping on top so you don't have to worry about leaks in FMIC piping in areas you can't easily get to
-B/C they have the money to burn and nothing better to do w/ it

...those are just a few answers. Personally, I would rock it.

it shortens the IC piping runs, reducing lag. it does look pretty cool, but it's a lot of money for just a little over all gain.

and you have to be sure that you're really doing the correct aerodynamic things. aerodynamics do not always follow common sense...
