Alright, so recently my car is had a problem starting. Its very intermitent and so far I've not been stranded, but I'm growin worried.
The car will turn over about 2 times and then it just fizzles out. It seems to happen mainly when its cold but its been happening more and more.
Is it a failing coil? zak, darin?

OE battery(20k on ie), It cranks just fine... and it does not sound like a dieing battery. its hard to diagnose random sounds over the inter net, but I'm 90% sure the batter is still good.WRXWagon2112 wrote:How old is the battery? And what kind / brand of battery is it?

Sparkplugs, coils, fuel pump (although I know yours is fine) all come to mind.

hmm, maybe I'll check them.WRXWagon2112 wrote:Spark plugs could be coked-up which would prevent the engine from firing.

it will turn over more than twice, but it makes a "funny" noise after a few cranks. Its not the battery, so I'm thinking maybe the plugs are a little fouled.zaxrex wrote:If the car turns over two times an that is it, do you mean that it stops turning, or that it catches after turning the ignition key, rubs for a few revolutions and the dies?

Normally fouled plugs will not cause the car to "not turn over"."
They can cause rough idle or a lack of ignition at start-up but it doesn't sound like they would be the cause of this situation.
An easy check is hook another battery up or do a jump from another running vehicle. If your's jumps to life than the answer is easy: Battery!
If the car turns over but doesn't start than the next in line is plugs, coil-packs, starter, alternator (there should be other apparent issues if the alternator is the problem).
