Need advice on floor jack and stands
My wife wants to get her father a decent floor jack and stands so he can change the oil on the cars. It will basically be 2 civics and 2 accords...and possibly be used on an XT
I want it to be good but not crazy expensive. I am thinking just going to Sears to grab a Craftsman set but thought I would pick your knowledge banks prior to doing it.

Harborfrieght FTW!
I've used their engine lifts/stands before....nice quality
Get the aluminum jack, it is quite nice and (the best part) it is also very light, as opposed to the craftsman steel jack.
There are local retail stores in Woodbridge, Gaithersburg, and in Laurel. If you go to one of the locations, don't bring too much money......you'll spend it, trust me.

give to usssss....it'ssssss miyyynnnnn, gahlawm, gahlawm
I'm completely rebuilding a friends 1997 Celica brake system (car has +265k miles on it). He has those cheap advance auto locking lug nuts on it....one of them is quite frozen and I ended up breaking three of the heads off the key (*flex*)......finally broke it free after a gallon of PB Blaster and a few primitive fits of rage.....
I would love to have had the precious at that point in time...220ft/lbs FTW!

I love it. There have been a couple of times this year when I've been helping someone change their tires and forget to break them loose on the ground because we never do, haven't for almost 2 years now. And it does charge quickly and it is good enough to do a few changes over the course of a week before it needs another charge. And you can't beat the price.cheshirecat wrote:give to usssss....it'ssssss miyyynnnnn, gahlawm, gahlawm

It is small enough, that if you are going to Hard Times on Monday, I could pick it up and bring it.

The 2-1/4 TON GARAGE JACK
HEAT-TREATED AT MAXIMUM STRESS POINTS: $54.99
This is similar to the floor jack I purchased back in 1987 and it is still in great shape. Mine is an Allied. I even keep it in my carport an it is exposed to the elements. It is also underrated as I have lifted some trucks beyond that weight limit w/o any problems.
At 70 lbs. this smooth rolling jack is ideal for shop use. Heavy duty steel wheels move easily on garage floors. 47-1/4'' handle length. 25-1/2'' x 13-3/4" chassis.
Design: floor jack
Capacity: 2-1/4 ton
Maximum Height: 19-1/4''
Minimum Height: 5''
Weight: 70 lbs.
