Sunday drive anyone? - 5/1/05

Post by Sabre »

Hello all,
Meridock and I are planning another weekend drive out in VA. For those that have not taken part in this before, it is a GREAT drive. It consists mostly of backroads that are in decent shape. Lots of nice turns and places to have fun, while still maintaining safe speeds.

We are getting together at 11am and will probably head out around 11:30. The place we are meeting at to start is the Food Lion in Haymarket. Here is the address and Google Maps link:
Food Lion Store 2527
1501 Washington Street, Haymarket, VA 20169
703-754-6034
- Map Link -

The drive takes about an hour, plus any time that we stop, so plan for 2 hours. If you have any questions, feel free to PM on the DCAWD boards :)

I'm definately up for this! What area(s) does the drive go through? The only roads I'm familiar with out west are in-and-around Middleburg.

I am a VERY flaky maybe... I know I will be spending the majority of the afternoon preparing (read: drinking) for the Audioslave show at the 930 Club. Perhaps I can fit this in before the festivities begin at my complex...

Life is just a reall bummer sometimes, ya know? :D

lol, that's cool guys, I know people will make it if they can. I can tell you though, this is a GREAT drive. I'll PM the people who ask (Alan, yours in on it's way) the map of the drive. For security reasons, I don't want to post it this time ;)

I'll be enjoying the 80 degree weather, surf and other things in Charleston this weekend, but I'll definitely be up for the next.

Maybe a midnight run to 211?

Basically - it is Haymarket to the Plains to Middleburg to Gilberts Corners towards leesburg and then back to middleburg; swing over to Hume and Orlean, and buzz warrenton...

:)

I call it the PacMan route.

Maybe I'm being paranoid ... but perhaps we shouldn't advertise the exact route we're going to take?

THis isn't a race or a high speed flyby... this is a drive.

I understand the paranoia, but If I lead... and feel we need to take an alternate route... we can. :) This is home ground for me!

Last event had some of the attendees meeting up with the chain along the way so by posting the route they can attempt to join.

Other than the occasional big bump, slow car, and Jack Russell Terrier - this was a fun day!

I was driving on 66-E at around 12:10 or so and I saw 2 Imprezas (blue and white) and a silver 350Z slightly to the south, headed west(as you were driving by a brown cop car on the side of the road). Was this yall?

Yep, sounds like you saw the tail end of the group. That was Ian (I think you've met him at one of our meets) and two of his buds.

The cop car was a Sheriff. He had the radar in the window, but was no where to be seen.
