Glass Onion at The Griffin Tavern (Flint Hill VA)

Post by ElZorro »

Hey folks, a buddy of mine from work is playing with his band, Glass Onion, at the Griffin Tavern this Friday night. Details at their website. http://www.griffintavern.com/ Glass Onion (as you could probably guess from the name) is a Beatles cover band. The lead singer is very good, and all of the guitar work is top notch.

Shout out if you are intersted! I'll be DD.

Where's Flint Hill, VA? The map on the site isn't much help.

Umm, a little west of Chantilly... You know where West Virginia is? Hang a left about 15 minutes before you get there.

But seriously, it's about an hour from Chantily/Herndon. Go west on 66, south on (?557?) towards Marshal, it's about 20 miles from there.

I do loves me some Beatles, but that trek is killer... Plus I've got a friend celebrating a birthday Friday night. Appreciate the offer J, thx.

Do they ever play anywhere closer to DC? I'd be interested to hear them play.

i <3 beatles

Yea, they do.

I talked to Ted (the lead guitar), if anyone knows a place that is looking for a band, I can pass the info on to him.

Ok, I'm going to kick your collective ass's next time if you don't come out for this!

Griffin Tavern is an interesting place. Recently renovated, kind of trendy. The crowd was a mix of "locals" (identified by the flannel and F-150's) and "transplants" (identified by the shirt-tie-sportcoat-minus-tie and BMW's, Porcshes, etc). There was one little group about "our" age, most were 40's and 50's.

Definetly a good time. The band sounds great. And the drive was a blast! 17 miles of VA backroads. (Julian, Darrin, we drove part of this road last fall).
