DCAWD AutoX Team!!!!

Post by Sabre »

Hello Everyone,
We have been approached by Ross of the CrossRoads Club to become part of a AutoX competition. First, let me say this: there is NO entry fee to the competition(other than your fee to enter the actual event). To make this clear, this competition is seperate from the AutoX event. You can think of it as laying on top of it :) So why become part of the team? Because you could win one of 3 sets of tires!

To enter, you simply need to tell me that you want to be part of a team. We need 4 people to complete the team, so feel free to tell you friends about it! After that is complete all you need to do it show up to 12 events!

Formally, it was sent out as this:
The format will be simple, at the beginning of the season you submit your
team roster and at each event the times of your fastest four racers will be
used for score. We will be using the standard SCCA PAX scoring system and the top 10 scores at each event will score points for their team with the first place racer getting 10, second place getting 9 and so on. Our event will consist of 12 events and scores will be taken only from your top 10 events. At the end of the season, the team with the most points wins. The Crossroad organization will take care of tracking the points for each team during the course of the season. Standings will be continually updated on our website throughout the season. There is no entry fee for the series, so teams need only submit an initial paperwork before 4/7/06 and come out to participate!
Let me know if you are interested in being on our team!

And is there anyway to crosspost this in the autox forum?

Depends on the the event, typically $25-40 if you are not a member of the hosting club.

1) If you are planning on running on the stock tires, you usually want to bring an air pump or steal someone else's and pump your tires up almost all the way to the recommended max. pressure, so you don't roll over them.

2) If you have a SNELL M/SA-rated helmet that is a 1995 or newer, bring that w/ you. If not, most clubs have loaner helmets.

3) Empty your car out of all non-essentials (including the glovebox) before you show up. When you get there, take out your spare tire.

4) Bring painter's tape or print out 2 sets of your numbers before an event and tape them to the outside of your car.

5) Pack any tools that you may need in case you have to work on the car.

6) Bring water (not soda!!), sunscreen and snacks to munch on.

I being interested, but I think we should have more than just 4 people on the roster, as I probably will not be able to make 1/4 of the events.

I believe they allow up to 8. I could definitely make a few, but not all as well.

So, we're currently looking at a 12 event series and these competitors:

gsx-lex: 1/2 the events
zaxrex: 3/4 of the events
Sabre: a few events
spazegun2213: none of the events

Moxnix and I are considering 9-10 of the events simply because they are already on our calendar.

The team has to participate in at least 10 of the 12 events, and it's the best 4 scores of the team members that get recorded for each event. This is not inspiring confidence here.....

Hopefully Jason signs on to the team as well :) That still doesn't give us very many though :(

Are we going to do this again next year? I think I can try to get my life in order by then. I really want to get in some autox's next year. I have never done it before so driving like a controlled idiot might be a little tuff! I can not say that I would make all the events but I would really like to give it a shot. Need to finish up some suspension crap first mind you.

I doubt I will be very competative in my particular class simply due to the car being way ahead of my driving skill. I mean, with the mods I have I am sure I will be in a class where other cars will just crush me now matter how well I drive. You know what I mean anyway.
I will always be the DRNWAGN!

Now that I've got a class and an event under my belt I think I'd be up for this. Anyone want to do this next year / season?

I'm definitely interested in doing it next year with you all :) The nice thing about having a team is that if we all just make a few races, we'll be in good shape :)
