I am pleased to announce the 11th Annual 48 hrs of Tristate Subaru Enthusiasts Drive for Charity, taking place January 12-15th, 2012. As in the past, the purpose of our event is to combine the love of driving a Subaru with raising money for the American Cancer Society.

Over the past 10 years our popularity has grown from 8 vehicles participating to as many as 65. All types of Subaru's are welcome on this trip. Our groups of enthusiasts have driven everything from the XT6, GL, DL, SVX, Legacy, Impreza and Brat to the WRX STi. Our participants have included EMT's, doctors, lawyers, members of the financial industry, mechanics, printers, whole families, and students. The only requirement is a love of Subaru and a commitment to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

2012 Itinerary (Tentative)

Thursday January 12: Kickoff Dinner, Cherry Hill, NJ

Friday January 13: Breakfast/Presentation at Subaru of America Headquarters
Drive to Richmond, VA

Saturday January 14: Drive to Winchester, VA
Tour of Sponsor Company
Drawing Dinner

Sunday January 15: Closing dinner, Woodbridge, NJ

On Friday afternoon we will be stopping on the first man-made island on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel heading south toward Virginia Beach.
For what you may ask? How about we keep our fingers crossed that Mother Nature doesn't interfere with us taking some AERIAL GROUP PHOTOS!

Saturday night during the Drawing Dinner we have Christial Lee, a comedian from the Virginia area, lined up to help us entertain you.
Hotel information will be posted shortly
Register with the American Cancer Society through our main page at www.48hrs.info
and follow us on Facebook at 48hrs of tristate and Twitter @48hrsoftristate
Would anyone be interested in this? I'd only be able to do this from Friday evening on if anyone can get that weekend off

I just got back. It was ridiculously fun. I didn't think I'd know anyone there, but it turns out someone I know from the Saab events has been doing this every year and helps organize this, and he put me in the same driving group with him, which consisted of seasoned vets and organizers (I was the only n00b), and so we (11 cars) went on this insanely fun drive through the mountains in West Virginia on Saturday. It had just snowed, which made the scenery 100x more beautiful, but also made driving absolutely thrilling. I haven't driven through snow in a while (I generally avoid doing so), but wow, my car just ate it up like a monster. It was so much fun. It was all crazy hairpins and sweepers one after another, hour after hour - the whole day was just full of downright exhilarating driving. Oh and on Friday, we got a police escort across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. We stopped right before the first tunnel entrance for a short while, parked, and the organizers hired an airplane to fly over and take aerial shots of the whole group. They pulled out all the stops. Definitely a great time.

Here a few pics I have so far (mostly of my car, I can't help it):

Ugh my car is absolutely filthy - I can't even read my license plates! But it was worth the grime. Next year it sounds like it'll be held up north but you should check it out anyway. And before I forget, people there were super cool. Definitely a fun group.

What was he/she driving? A silver bugeye with an STI wing driven by a chick joined my group for a while on Rt. 7.

Hey was probably in his (non-turbo) Outback. I doubt you all would have noticed him, as he probably had his kids and wide in the car with him.

Thanks Chuck.
I dragged my car to the dreaded auto wash in a panic.

One more pic for the road!
