Autox is a type of racing that is done in a large parking lot. A course is outlined w/ cones and cars go thru the course individually and are broken down by class based on the mods they have done.

This site has some info and videos of local events: Team WTF?!?!?

I mentioned it before!! It's a non-points event, at FedEx on July 30 and there are still a few openings left. I think Colin is trying to talk his gf into participating. DSP, STX and Ladies are all in the afternoon, SM runs in the morning. www.wdcr-scca.org or www.dlbracing.com

The afternoon session will be easier for me and the familia. About what time should I show and when registering I had to pick a work group but I wasnt really sure what some of the differences were so I picked "afternoon tech", what is that btw... I can stand behind a light post and replace cones with the best of them...

ROFL :D

OK, what class did you register for? ABC run groups are in the PM, DEF are in the AM. AM competitiors need to be there by about 7:30am, PM people by about 11:30am.

If you want to shag cones, pick Course Worker as your work assignment. Afternoon tech are the people who check to make sure the cars won't fall apart on course. Ie. is the battery tied down, wheels torqued down, brakes working, etc.

I signed up for STX going by what I read and was told this past Sunday...
Any way I can change to something with less responsiblity than a safety guy??? I'm certain I'm not experienced enough for that....

OK, so we're going to have at least 3 DCAWD members out here, maybe 4? if it comes to that I'll come out and lend a hand/moral support/fetch water.

somebody is going to have to remind me ahead of time though... :P

For a listing of what worker positions are.

http://solo.wdcr-scca.org/worker_pos.php

For PM I would try to get there closer to 11:00 or sooner. Afternoon registration opens at 10:30 and closes at 11:40 so getting there at 11:30 does not leave you much time to spare since tech closes at 11:45 and you need to have your car all ready by the time you head thru tech. I know I can register and tech in less than 15 mins but my car shows up a little more ready than most do.

Thanks Mox... yeah as much time as possible would be wise for the supergreen newb like myself.

Any who come are welcome to drive my car (most likely better than I do) but be forwarned... it is an automatic

Alrighty.... first autocross survived by me, the family and the car.

Great fun and since I set my goals low (dont kill, die or be maimed; miss as many cones as possible; improve time with each run) I was able to accomplish them. First run 78.somethingsomething (raises hand to quiet laughter) last run 70.2something. I sense a habit forming...

Thanks to Katya4me for all the help; now to buy more parts

Hey Dave, glad you had fun. :D Yesterday was a very long day, but the course was great and so are the people.

Now we have to talk your wife into competing too. :D Ladies class is a bunch of fun and always runs in the afternoon... ;)

yeah it was a alot of fun and the family was surprisingly patient considering the day ran so long. I'm sure I'll be doing some home improvement type things this week to balance the ledger (so to speak)
