FS (again) '92 Subaru Loyale (FREEEEE)

Post by snaab »

Ladies and gents, I gotta find a new home for this car in the next 48 hours, otherwise I will be forced to scrap it.
  • 1992 Suby Loyale sedan
  • manual trans, FWD
  • 138,xxx miles
I was driving it until a few months ago when a fuse popped that controls windows, brake lights, blinkers, auto-seatbelts. I parked it that day and just never got around to looking at it. Yes, lazy mechanic is lazy. Anyhow, the car is free to whoever wants it, but would need to be flatbedded out of here (besides the dead battery, it's rather unsafe to drive, owing to the completely worn out dampers at all corners). The car has a current safety inspection through April, but will not pass safety and will not pass emissions, in the state of Virginia.

P.S. Would someone cross-post this to NASIOC for me? I signed up for a username but I lack the permissions to post in classifieds.

I think the problem is the 48 (now 24) hours.
Someone has to have a trailer and a place to put it long-term so that it won't be ticketed for lack of inspection come April.
I suspect we "collectively" can figure something out, but it will likely take more than a day or two.
I understand if you have to ditch it. It would just be a shame to haul it off if we can't find a place (and use) for it.

It can stay where it is for a while if that's the case. As it is, I probably would be able to arrange for a junking until next week anyway. I'll just leave the title with my mom. Let's put it this way, if no one claims it by the time the inspection is up, I'll junk it then.

Have a trailer and could help get it to someplace if somebody is willing to pay for gas and has a location to put the car.

I would be more than willing to throw some cash in the hat to make that happen.
Someone will have to go to the trouble to title the car and pay the subsequent fees.
Again, we should take-up a collection for those who would like to make their LeMons dreams come true.

I have a dream!
I have some cash!
I can register the vehicle in Buckingham County where inspections are viewed as a suggestion.
What I don't have is space close by.

So why won't this car pass emissions or safety? I'd considering homing this and using it for rally-x, but I'd need to make it road legal.
All my cars have drum brakes and are sub 200 hp, what am I doing with my life?

You mean, besides the brake lights and turn signals not working? The struts all need replacing, and the brakes are nearing the end of their life. The exhaust is clinging on for dear life, and is more holes than metal.
