Passing inspection by the narrowest of margins. Kind of.

Post by zaxrex »

I have grown a CEL condition for cyl misfires since January. Wasn't there before and except for wiring the water injection differently and the coold weather, I can't see anything that I would have done to light the lamp.

So my VA Safety Inspection was due at the end of July. I'd be able to drive three or four days without the light coming on, then I would have to clear it again. Day before I was taking it in for the inspection, the light comes on. Crap. So I spend a good part of the evening driving around, stopping and starting the car to get it to run through the diagnostics. At last everything was ready. I park in the driveway and the next morning drive it to the inspection station.

Two hours later, I get a call saying the my car is ready and I can come pick it up. I walk up to the station, pay the Man (woman, actually), get my key and start the car.

CEL

I look in the windshield and saw my new safety inspection sticker. Fhew, that was a close one.

Then it dawned on me that ECU readings have nothing to do with the safety inspection.

lol! BTW, we can flash your ECU so those CEL's don't come on and emissions always read ready ;)
