Just got a protune

Post by Bluestreak2006 »

Well I thought I'd post up some results. I just have the print out so I'll scan it later. I was tuned at a local shop call Epic motorsports by the local guru Robbie. The pertinent mods are perrin short ram intake, STi TMIC, Invidia catless downpipe, and 3 inch megan stealth CBE. She was tuned at 18 PSI. It ran a tic above 11.1 all the way to 6300rpms. Tuned on a mustang dyno I made 241.6 whp and 299 lbs tq uncorrected and 253.8 whp and 314.3 lbs tq WCF. I actually ran it at the local track last week w/o the tune and ran a best of 13.91 at 95.8 mph. I wasn't pleased so I went to get the tune. Car will remain the way it is for the next year or so. So this was the last mod for a bit. I might take it to the track tomorrow but most likely in 2 weeks. Hoping for a mid 13.

A good launch will make all the difference on your achieving a mid-13 1/4.
Work on your reaction time and your feathering of the clutch.
Do NOT just rev to 5k and side step the clutch, w/ 300+ lb/ft you will snap a gear.

By the way, very VERY good numbers on the protune (especially with the td04).
Now we need to find you a vf series turbo to bolt on.

On the previous runs I I eased the clutch out around 3k rpm. I ran consistent 1.9 60 fts. I never bogged or burned the clutch. I was pleased but it seemed like the last half of the track I accelerated like crap.

1.9 60s a re decent. What were your trap speeds?
If your consistently hitting around 100-103 MPH, then your speed is about as good as a TD04 is going to get you.

My best trap was 96.5 mph on a 14.02 pass. The track here in Fayettenam sucks but I really thought the car should be faster.

Those numbers were before the protune, correct? If so, that's pretty close to what I'd expect with a normal driver and a regular track.

I've routinely seen STis with similar mods only pull a low 13 sec 1/4 at MIR in MD.

Those are great numbers mang 8)

Runs were before the protune. I made 8 passes over 5 hours and ran 13.91-14.08 on all passes. Shifts are consistent but the fine tuning the launch. I also ran her as I pulled up. No icing the intercooler or upping tire pressure.

Anyone have any tips of the trade?????

<MOVED TO RIGHT THREAD>

I don't drag my daily driver. I want it to last me a while and drag racing is terrible on your ride. Hard on the engine, suspension, tires, brakes and the worst on the tranny/clutch.

Not looking to pick up drag racing as a hobby. Im trying to test the results of my tune. When I run her in a few weeks that will be it. Just interested to see what gains I may have gotten from the tune. But other than the launch I wouldn't necessarily say that its harder on the car than the street. I do enjoy the car for the reason I bought it. Especially in school zones.

Goob I'd still like to swap roof rails. If you were ever in NC we could do it.

Go wife, go.

I hope labor is as fast as your car.
