Guages

Post by Phibs »

Would like to put two guages in my car, ideally on a steering wheel mount like Julian has. Can anyone recommend:

a) the mount
b) Two guage models that would be appropriate and not break the bank like
DEFI? :) (Boost and Oil Temp would suffice)
c) Where to buy!

Perrin makes a decent mount:

You can pick up something like this from ebay for about 20 bucks. I have one similar to this installed in my car.

it's a piece of plastic you look at constantly when you're in the car, spend appropriately.

Get some Defi's...that is what I would get if I ever got gauges...actually did have a Defi EGT and an APEXi boost gauge but decided just to sell them since I didn't feel like installing them

Afaik Defi doesn't make 52mm and they are expensive as all get out! I guess I'll just pick something since Julian ain't speaking up :)

Does anyone have anything against autometer gauges? They are decent looking and are on the cheap side of gauges.

Have you checked out Prosport? Gives you the same look as Defi at a fraction of the cost and I've read decent reviews on them.

lol, you already said you didn't want to spend money on the autometer gauge bezel, so why would I recommend the gauges? ;)

Nope, I have them and they have been very good to me. I'll probably be adding a few more soon too :)

Hehe no I meant I thought the bezel was cheaper, I'm ok with spending the money if that's what it costs to play. I'll check out the prosports and if those don't seem like a good deal the autometers should do fine. Electrical or Mechanical for boost + oil temp? ( Ie, what is easier to install )

Looks like ProSports it is, they look NICE. Gonna try to pick up two at
Mach5 today. Is it bad to get them both electrical or just stick with the
cheaper mechanical guages? ( IE is there anything to gain cides the cool startup sequence by going electrical )

Picked up the prosport electrics along with the Dash mount for $205 @ Mach5. Added to the stuff to install during the modfest! Thanks for all
