Open source ECU tuning...

Post by Sabre »

Hello all,
Well, after some research, here is the combo you will need to tune your Subaru (Sorry, not sure about other brands!)

Tactrix/OpenECU/Enginuity combo.
www.enginuity.org for info on the map editing software (free)
www.tactrix.com to purchase the cable you need ($80)
www.openecu.org for the map reading/flashing software called "ECUFlash" (free)
www.osecuroms.org for some starter maps that work very well (most of them are free)

All this info was thanks to nhluhr :)

Looks like I'm going to go this route to get my ODB-II back :)

Good choice putting $4,000 rims on your 1990 Honda Civic. That's like Betty White going out and getting her tits done.

Don't forget TARI EcuExplorer: http://www.tari.co.za/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl

Which is good if you just want to log data as well.

Yup, that is where I am at right now. Same power as the Protuning software...so basically it would be the same combo as Julian listed above:
Tactrix/OpenECU/Enginuity but w/ the addition of StreetTuner for live tuning.

Who was "your guy" if I may ask. I will soon have to be looking into this stuff as I'm now no longer running on a UTEC.
