a bunch of years back I bought a pretty complete set of sockets. They came in a plastic tool box with the trays and indentations in the trays to hold them all nice and pretty. (I can't find a picture of my set, but imagine three slide-out trays like the one attached in a plastic tool box). This weighs something like 30#, and depending on what I'm working on I never need more than half of the tools (don't need the metric when working on the Chevy, or english when working on the FXT, etc). Its a pain in the ass to haul around.
I've been digging around for a good way to carry sockets in a soft-sided tool bag. I've found a couple different magnetic socket caddies, but I just don't see the magnets being strong enough to hold the sockets when thrown into a bag.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: tool storage
I played with those in the store a couple months back, just didn't have enough confidence that the sockets would stay put. If they're going to pop off I might as well put them in ziplock bags (with vent holes to prevent condensation)

I've had pretty good luck with the all metal versions.

Re: tool storage
gf bought me some of the magnetic snap-on ones for xmas. i am very happy with them, though they haven't seen much travel/throwing around yet. the magnets are much stronger than i expected.
