Has it really been five years since Subaru brought forth the redesigned Impreza? It seems like only yesterday when the bugeye version of the Rex hit our shores (and redefined the compact sports sedan in the US), followed by a masculine front-end massage and the current model's Alfa-esque nose job. But before the newest Impreza hits the market, those of you in the UK that may be averse to the restyled WRX can plunk down your pounds for the final iteration of Subaru's road-going rally machine.

The GB270, taking the name from the UK's Rally GB, gets a final work-over from the folks at Prodrive, complete with a modified version of the 2.5-liter boxer that produces 266 HP and 310 lb.-ft. of torque – 40 HP and 74 more pound-feet of twist then the standard model. The 0-60 time drops by .6 seconds (from 5.9 seconds), while response in the middle of the tach has been improved.

A lowering spring kit, along with a 'quickshift gearchange' (what we're assuming is just a short-throw shifter), a MOMO gear knob and 18x7.5-inch GT1 wheels are all part of the package. Exterior enhancements include a new rear-spoiler and mesh grille on the sedan, while the Sports Wagon benefits from a new rear waist spoiler, front and rear aero pieces, a black mesh grille and gloss black rollers.

Only 300 units of the sedan will be sold, while only 100 wagon lovers will be able to park the GB270 in their garage.
